Verified Purchase. I’ve not used AutoCAD for several years, but can remember the early days when it first hit the engineering world.
The interface was far more advanced than anything else on the market at the time. It required a beast of a machine with more RAM than typically existed for your average stone age workstation. Runs like a champ so far. Fast response time none of the lag for image zoom that I remember from the days when drawings were rendered to papyrus.
The interface is a bit quirky but intuitive and based upon your current actions. However, it has mercy on us old guys that still remember the keyboard commands and shortcuts. I purchased the subscription based version and look forward to the relatively inexpensive upgrade path. I’ve also had occasion to take advantage of the AutoCAD cloud based service and found it works flawlessly and is fully integrated. Save it on the laptop and it’s accessible from my tablet, phone and primary workstation.
I’m very pleased so far with my purchase. There is a reason AutoCAD is the industry standard. It’s come a long way from release 12 for DOS, what I learned on. Last version I used regularly was version of LT and there are many many usability improvements in this version.
I was surprised how much faster I could work with the new version. The software makes good use of the faster processors and increased memory. I remember the day when you had time to go get a cup of coffee after using the regen command. This is the best bargain of the year. I bought two and when I tested them , I bought a third one but the offer had expired and the price was higher.
It is used for drafting at a professional scale. You need special training for using it. Had not previously used anything but freeware; by comparison this software has very intuitive interface modes, functionality, and I was able to get up drafting in a couple of weeks. Abundant documentation; also, get the ‘Dummies’ book. I needed it for my work and am very satisfied. After a few years of not using it, with very little effort I was able to feel comfortable with it again.
Updated from an older version and works great. Should have done it sooner. Is making work a little easier to go to everyday! Program was shipped quickly. This version is perfect for making shop drawing and planning construction operations using contract drawings and dumping them into CAD.
In the last few months AutoDesk support has reached new lows. Their company is impossible to reach via phone. Good luck getting support for licensing issues or anything else. You can’t even find a phone number on their pathetic website, and any numbers that they have listed are answered by a computerized system that you can’t get past. I will not be buying any AutoDesk products again and we’ve been using AutoCAD for over 20 years.
